Member Techstack Survey (Aug 21)

Have you ever asked the questions:

  • Now that we’re about to replace our LMS, I wonder which members are using which products?
  • How long have they been using that product and what’s their feedback?

Well, you can now ask just that – read on.

I am delighted to tell you that we now have the updated the Aug 2021 Learning Technologies Survey (now called the “Member Techstack Survey”).

Last year (Jun 2020) we had 53 replies (for LMS, for example) when we asked 97 members.

Some of those are no longer members, but this year we asked 93 members:

  • 49 entries are up to date, 37 updated from 2020 entries while 12 are new.
  • 20 members have yet to update their 2020 entries.
  • 23 have yet to take part, 7 from 2020 and 16 new in 2021.

The importance of these numbers is what members can do with the spreadsheet, Member Techstack Data (Aug 21), which you can download by signing into the website and following Quick Links > Metrics

Here’s the first part of this spreadsheet. Note that the version is Aug 8th. This will be updated as more members provide input.

The section on the left gives a list of members m01 to m09. The next column gives the last input date, followed by an indication of the “size and shape” of the member. Finally, there are indications whether the member will accept requests and whether they will present at a SIG meeting. Note that members m01 and m04 haven’t filled in the survey yet.

The section on the right is one of 20 sections dedicated to a category within your Techstack. The one shown is for the LMS. For each member it shows which product(s) they use, how long they’ve been using it, and what audiences it’s used for. Unlike in the 2020 version which had the categories as tabs, everything is now in the same tab along to the right.

On the right-hand side is a summary of (in this case) LMS usage by member, giving averages and counts as necessary.

So, what do I do?

  1. If you are one of the 20 members yet to update your 2020 entry or one of the 23 yet to start, access the survey URL and complete the input. If you can no longer find your invitation (resent or sent to you during July 2021), send a note to librarian@cedma.org.
  2. Select up to five members (quoting their codes) whom you’d like to contact, naming the product, and send the request to librarian@cedma.org.
  3. The librarian will then email those people and ask them to contact you to agree a follow-up.

It’s as easy as that. During 2020 and into 2021, we had over 20 requests.
